14. The Promise of Pardon

1 We all like sheep have gone astray,
We’ve turned us each to His own way;
In sinful thought and word and deed!
And on God’s Lamb our guilt was laid.

Refrain:
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return unto the Lord,
And He will abundantly pardon;
Let him return unto the Lord,
And He will abundantly pardon.

2 O hear and heed the prophet’s cry,
“Ye sons of men, why will ye die?
Why do ye spend your strength for naught,
For bread which satisfieth not? [Refrain]

3 “Incline your ear and come to Me,
And take salvation’s waters free;
Here all your sins and sorrows cure,
IN David’s mercies sweet and sure.” [Refrain]

4 Proclaim this gospel grace to all,
The thoughtless throng in pleasure’s thrall;
The busy world, refined, or rude
And all the sin stained brotherhood. [Refrain]
