191. The Great Coronation Day

1 There is a day of glory coming,
In yonder fair and fadeless land,
When all the ransomed and the blood-washed,
Around the great white throne shall stand;
The golden crowns upon their foreheads,
They down before the King shall lay,
And crown Him King of kings to reign forever,
On that great coronation day.

Refrain:
“Crown Him King!”
The ransomed hosts will sing,
While the vast, unnumbered throng
of angels swell the mighty song
Crown Him King!
Homage bring!
He who died but lives
And salvation gives,
Is worthy all our adoration.
“Crown Him King!
Homage bring!”
At His pierced feet we our crowns shall lay
On that great coronation day.

2 Who else is worthy of our homage,
Who else could die to save the lost,
Who else would sacrifice His glory,
And pay the price redemption cost?
Who else should claim our adoration,
Who else our heavy debt could pay?
We’ll crown Him King of kings to reign forever,
On that great coronation day. [Refrain]

3 The multitudes from ev’ry nation;
From ev’ry tribe and ev’ry tongue,
The many million martyred heroes,
Whose praises we have often sung,
Will swell the anthems of the ages
In praise to Him who lives for aye,—
Then we shall crown Him King to reign forever,
On that great coronation day. [Refrain]
