10321. Come In And Abide

1 Come, blest Redeemer!
Be Thy servants’ honored guest—
Come in compassion,
Give the troubled rest.
Lo, the day is dying—
Lo, the night comes on apace,
And our spirits sighing,
Long to see Thy face.

Refrain:
Jesus—dear Master,
Come and reign within each heart,
Deign to be near us;
Nevermore depart.

2 Come, dear Redeemer!
We are faint and sore distressed:
If Thou wilt enter
We are truly blest.
Thou dost soothe our anguish,
Thou forgiv’st Thy people’s sin—
We are lost without Thee,
Haste to enter in. [Refrain]

3 Hail! blessèd Jesus,
Thou hast heard Thy servants’ prayer,
And hearts are glowing
In Thy presence fair.
Thou hast sown the sunbeams
Where the shadows used to dwell,
Thou hast whispered softly,
Peace—all shall be well. [Refrain]
