1609. Freedom

1. Christ, our glorious leader, calls to us today—
Gird the armor on and to the field away!
Slumber then no longer, His command obey,
And forevermore be free.
Refrain
Freedom! freedom! free in Christ, the Lord!
Freedom! freedom! trusting in His Word!
By His grace and in His strength we win,
For His truth and love hath conquered sin!
Freedom! freedom! free in Christ, the Lord!
Freedom! freedom! trusting in His Word!
We His faithful followers will be,
And we shall forevermore be free.

2. Moving bravely onward with His truth unfurled,
See the hosts of sin before us backward hurled;
With our captain we may overcome the world,
And forevermore be free.
Refrain

3. Tho’ the battle rages, strife will soon be past;
Skies will soon be light, which now are overcast;
We the victor’s song of joy may sing at last,
And forevermore be free.
Refrain
