Text: | The UNION |
1 From whence doth this union arise,
That hatred is conquer'd by love?
It fastens our souls with such ties,
That nature and time can't remove.
2 It cannot in Eden be found,
Nor yet in Paradise lost;
It grows on Immanuels ground,
And Jesus' dear blood it did cost.
3 My friends are so dear unto me,
Our hearts so united in love;
Where Jesus is gone we shall be,
In yonder blest mansions above.
4 O! why then so loth for to part,
Since we shall ere long meet again,
Engrav'd on Immanuel's heart,
A distance we cannot remain.
5 And when we shall see that bright day,
And join with the angels above,
Leaving those vile bodies of clay,
United with Jesus in love.
6 With Jesus we ever shall reign,
And all his bright glory shall see,
Singing hallelujahs, Amen,
Amen, even so let it be.
