102. This One Thing I Do

1 The prize of the heavenly calling,
Allures my soul today,
So swiftly the life-sands are falling
I can no more delay;
Forgetting the past with its failures,
With heart and hope anew,
Today and tomorrow and ever,
This one thing will I do.

Refrain:
Forgetting the past, I press on t’ward the goal,
Resolved to the last to be true to my soul,
The mark of the prize, His dear likeness to show,
That others thro’ me the Redeemer may know.

2 The prize of the heavenly calling,
What joy the Christ to know,
His pow’r in its glorious fullness
Will through our being flow;
All worthy the prize of the striving,
To feel this heart of mine
Enfolded and fill’d to completeness,
With grace and pow’r divine. [Refrain]

3 The prize of the heavenly calling,
Who would not do or dare,
To know Him, our gracious Redeemer,
And His own image bear?
And this is the prize set before us,
The joy our soul to lure,
Oh, let us not faint or grow weary,
But to the end endure. [Refrain]
