141. Meet Me at the Throne of Grace

1 There’s a promise I would ask of you, brother,
And ‘tis one you can keep in any place;
‘Tis a promise that you will night and morning
Always meet me at the throne of grace.

Refrain:
O meet me at the throne, will you meet me?
Though we may not look upon each other’s face,
But wherever you may be, on the land or on the sea,
Will you meet me at the throne of grace?

2 O the precious hours we’ve spent here together,
Time and distance can nevermore efface;
But we promise that we’ll pray for each other
When we meet around the throne of grace. [Refrain]

3 Till we gather on the banks of the river,
After we shall have run our earthly race,
It will help us if we bear one another
Up to heaven at the throne of grace. [Refrain]
