CLXXVI. Trust and confidnece; or, looking beyond present appearances

1 Away, my unbelieving fear;
Fear shall in me no more take place;
Tho' Jesus doth not yet appear;
He hides the brightness of his face:

2 Still I will never let him go,
Nor basely to the tempter yield;
His strength will lead triumphing thro'
I never will give up the field.

3 Altho' the vine its fruit deny,
Altho' the olive yield no oil,
The withering fig-tree droop and die,
The field illude the tiller's toil;

4 The empty stall no heard afford,
And perish all the bleating race,
Yet I will triumph in the Lord,
The God of my salvation praise.
