66. I Take Him At His Word

1 “Come all ye heavy-laden,
And I your rest will be;”
Thus spake the loving Savior,
Did He not think of me?
When weary, sad and lonely,
Like some poor frightened bird,
From wind and tempest hast’ning,
I take Him at His word.

Refrain:
His blood now wholly cleanses,
I’m glad His truth I’ve heard.
For now it makes me happy,
I take Him at His word.

2 “Those giv’n me by my Father
I evermore will keep;”
Thro’ darkness and thro’ danger
He seeks His wand’ring sheep.
And I, far-off and sinning,
His blessed call have heard;
He came to save the guilty,
I take Him at His word. [Refrain]

3 In heav’n my home is waiting,
A home, dear Lord, with Thee;
Beside the crystal river,
Beyond death’s solemn sea.
Where grief nor pain can enter,
Nor hearts by sin are stirred;
His promise never faileth,
I take Him at His word. [Refrain]

4 O sinner, come to Jesus,
He’s looking now for thee;
In earnest tones so tender,
He calls—“Come unto me.”
His blood will wholly cleanse you,
With righteousness He’ll gird;
I plead with you, dear lost one,
Oh, take Him at His word.

O dear one, won’t you trust Him,
And round you let Him gird
His righteousness and glory?
Oh, take Him at His word.
