48. Jesus is Mine

1 Jesus is mine, forever mine—
Not for a fleeting day,
But when the earth and sea and skies
And stars have pass'd away;
He makes the promise in His word,
To all who will believe;
And grace sufficient for the day,
He binds Himself to give.

2 Jesus is mine, forever mine—
Then let me now rejoice;
Let gladness fill my trusting heart,
And tune my faltering voices;
Let anxious care be laid aside,
And banished every fear;
If Christ is mine, and I am His,
What danger can be near?

3 Jesus is mine, forever mine—
What rapture must it be,
When darkly thro' a glass no more
His glory I shall see!
When, in a land of cloudless skies
And clear celestial light,
I shall behold His lovely face,
And worship in His sight.
