112. Rise, Rise, My Soul

1 Rise, rise, my soul, in lofty adoration,
As soars the eagle in his lofty flight,
Mount to His throne in rapturous contemplation,
Who dwells for aye in realms of cloudless light,
Far, far above the din of earth ascending,
Fall at His feet and worship and adore;
With seraphs bright up on their Lord attending,
Laud thou Jehovah, blest forevermore.

2 Bring thou in love thy tribute of devotion,
Off’ring of incense fragrant, pure and sweet;
Moved by the pow’r of rapturous emotion,
Bring praises for the King of glory meet,
Thou whom, by sin brought under condemnation,
He hath redeemed thro’ His abounding grace;
Laud Him for aye who wro’t out thy salvation;
Lift to His throne unceasing songs of praise.

3 Vie thou, my soul, with Heav’n’s cherubic legions,
And with the seraphs bright before His throne;
Vie with the hosts of those supernal regions
In lofty hymns to make His glory known,
Weak though thou art, and lofty tho’ their station,
Thou hast a song that angels may not sing;
By Christ redeemed, who died for all the nations,
Lift thy “new song” and make His praises ring.
