23. He Windeth His Way Through the Village

1 He windeth his way thro’ the village,
The hour is the closing of day;
In quiet he’s seeking the mountain
Where often he goeth to pray.

Refrain:
He windeth his way thro’ the village;
‘Twas Jesus, the Saviour of men,
His richest of blessings bestowing;
He comforts today, just as then.

2 He windeth his way thro’ the village,
With one and another to speak;
To bring them rich bounty and blessing,
Or some one neglected to seek. [Refrain]

3 He windeth his way thro’ the village,
The multitude drawing anear;
He dropeth some sweet word of comfort
That sorrowing, sad ones may hear. [Refrain]

4 He windeth his way thro’ the village,
The blind hear his voice and they see;
The lame ones walk forth at his bidding;
The sin-bound forever are free. [Refrain]

5 He windeth his way thro’ the village,
And night casts her mantel adown;
‘Tis then, only then, he is able
In quiet to pass from the town. [Refrain]
