112. Save Me, O Lord

1 Fierce are the gales that drive my bark,
Boist’rous the sea about me;
Lord, be my Pilot through the dark,
Else I am lost without Thee.

Jesus, Lover of my soul,
Let me to Thy bosom fly;

2 Broken the mast, the sails are rent,
Wilder the storm is growing;
Help, Lord, my strength is well-nigh spent,
Courage and hope are going.

Hide me, O my Savior, hide,
Till the storm of life are past.

3 Thou art the master of the deep,
Tempest and tide obey Thee;
See how the billows madly leap!
Save me, O Lord, pray Thee.

Other refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;

4 Speak, as Thou didst in olden time,
When high the waves were rolling;
Speak “Peace be still” with voice sublime,
Billows and winds controlling.

All my trust on Thee is stayed,
All my help from Thee I bring.

5 Blest be Thy name! my pray’r is heard!
Calm is the sea about me,—
Savior, Deliv’rer, Keeper, Lord,
What would I do without Thee.

Hide me, O my Savior hide,
Till the storms of life are past;
Save into the haven guide,
I receive my soul at last.
