171. Anchor Your Hope in Heaven

1 Anchor your hope in heaven,
Not on the things of earth,
Set your affections wholly,
Where comes of joy no death.

For where abides your treasures,
There, there your hearts shall be,
And peace beyond all measure,
Waits in eternity.

2 Pleasures of earth are fleeting,
Soon shall our hopes decay,
But in his better country,
Pleasures abide for aye. [Refrain]

3 Sunshine oft turns to shadow,
Smiles change to grief and tears,
But in the many mansions,
There comes no grief nor fear. [Refrain]

4 There be your heart’s best treasure,
Trusting in Christ above,
And when life’s day is ended,
He’ll bear you home in love. [Refrain]
