87. My Blessed Saviour

1 When on Calv'ry's cross he died,
When "'Tis finished," Jesus cried,
Heaven's gates were opened wide,
My blessed Saviour;
He then conquered death for me,
O'er the grave brought victory;
He has triumphed gloriously,
My blessed Lord.

Chorus:
And I shall live because he died,
And I shall live because he died,
Jesus Christ, the crucified,
I shall live because he died.

2 For a lost and ruined race
Jesus suffered in our place;
He has brought redeeming grace,
My blessed Saviour;
Vict'ry o'er the grave we sing,
Where, O death, is now thy sting?
Let the hallelujahs ring
My blessed Lord. [Chorus]

3 Now he doth for us prepare
Heav'nly mansions bright and fair,
And his glory we shall share,
My blessed Saviour;
Farewell tears all wiped away,
Night exchanged for endless day,
We shall reign with him for aye,
My blessed Lord. [Chorus]
