75c. Laetatus sum

1 I did in heart rejoyce,
to heare the peoples voice,
In offering so willingly:
For let us up say they,
And in the Lords house pray,
Thus spake the folke full lovingly.
2 Our feet that wandred wide
Shall in thy gates abide,
3 O thou Jerusalem full faire:
Which art so seemely set
Much like a Citie neate
The like whereof is not elsewhere.

4 The Tribes with one accord,
The Tribes of God the Lord,
Are thither bent their way to take,
So God before did tell
That there his Israel
Their prayers should together make.

5 For there are thrones erect,
And that for this respect,
To set forth justice orderly:
Which thrones right to maintaine,
To Davids house pertaine,
His folk to judge accordingly.

6 To pray let us not cease
For Jerusalems peace,
Thy friends God prosper mightily.
7 Peace be thy wals about,
And prosper thee throughout
thy pallaces continually.

8 I wish thy prosperous state,
For my poore brethrens sake,
That comfort have by meanes of thee
9 Gods house doth me allure,
Thy wealth for to procure,
So much as alwaies as lies in me.
