Jack Schrader’s setting accentuates the playful, dance-like quality of this historic French carol. A majestic middle section of praise to “Jesus, Lord of all the earth,” serves to make the return to the dance tempo that much more enjoyable. The part writing is classic and satisfying, and the addition of optional flute adds to the overall joyful Christmas flavor. The flute part is included in the anthem.
