Brown, Nathan, D.D., born in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, June 22, 1807, entered the Baptist ministry in.1832, and began his work as a missionary in Burma in 1833, where he translated the New Testament, finishing it in 1848. He returned to America in 1855. He proceeded to Japan in 1872, completed his translation of the New Testament, the first translation in Japanese, in 1879, and died at Yokohama, Jan. 1, 1886.
