Muus Jacobse (Klaas Hanzen Heeroma)

Klaas Hanzen Heeroma (Hoorn (Terschelling), October 13 1909 - Groningen, November 21 1972) was a Dutch poet and linguist. Heeroma wrote under the pseudonym Muus Jacobse, the name of one of his ancestors on his mother's side that fisherman on the island of Marken had been.

Klaas Hanzen Heeroma was born on the island of Terschelling. In 1928 went Heeroma in Leiden Dutch study. In 1935 he was promoted to G. Kloeke. After his short time in Wassenaar and Leiden teacher had been, he was appointed in 1936 to assistant to the Dictionary of the Dutch language in Leiden, where he continued to work until his appointment in 1948 as professor of Dutch language and literature at the University of Indonesia to Jakarta. In 1953 he was appointed professor in the Lower Saxon language and literature Groningen. In 1952/1953 he was one of the poets on the Pieter in Oosterbeek was working on a new metrical psalms. These poets were also a large number of songs in order to translate and write a new song book to come. This resulted in Hymnal for the Churches which appeared in 1973 and was introduced in many denominations and churches. Of these two translations from Danish, five from German and 29 own songs included in the hymnal. The psalms are 22 berijmingen in the songbook of his hand and nine berijmingen he is co-author. Heeroma was president of the Society of Dutch Literature, member of the Literature Department of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), and foreign honorary member of the Royal Academy.
