O Thou that in the heavens sit

O Thou that in the heavens sit

Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 O Thou that in the heavens sitt'st
I'll lift mine eyes to thee.
2 Lo as unto their masters hand,
The eyes of servants be.
As maids even to their mistress hand
So are our eyes unto
The Lord our God, until that he
Shall mercy on us show.

3 O Lord be gracious unto us
To us O gracious be;
Because that filled with contempt
Exceedingly are we.
4 Our soul is fill'd excedingly
With scorns of men secure;
From them also that haughty be
Our souls contempt endure.
