Jehovah, O how long wilt thou

Jehovah, O how long wilt thou

Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 Jehovah, O how long wilt thou
Forget me? what for aye?
How long wilt thou so closely hide
From me thy face away?
2 How long shall I in soul consult
In heart's grief daily go?
How long exalted over me
Shall be my deadly foe?

3 Consider me, O Lord my God
And answer me likewise,
Lest that I sleep the sleep of death,
Enlighten thou mine eyes.
4 Lest that mine enemies should say,
Against him I prevail;
Lest those that trouble me rejoice
If being moved I fail.

5 But I have set my confidence
Thy bounteous grace upon,
My heart shall very much rejoice
In thy salvation.
Unto Jehovah songs of praise
Sing joyfully will I,
Because that he hath dealt with me
Exceeding bounteously.
