Representative Text

1 LORD save me, for thy glorious Name,
In thy resistless Strength appear
To judge my Cause, and to my Pray'r,
Vouchsafe to lend a gracious Ear:
Mere Strangers whom I never wrong'd,
Against my Safety have design'd,
And cruel Men that fear no GOD,
To take my Soul have close combin'd.

2 But GOD takes part with all my Friends,
And he's indeed the surest Guard;
The GOD of Truth shall on my Foes
Pour down their Falshood's just Reward.
Whilst I my grateful Off'rings bring,
And sacrifice with grateful Joy,
And in his Praise my Time to come.
With holy Extacy employ.

3 From dreadful Danger and Distress,
The LORD of Life hath set me free:
And through his Strength, of all my Foes,
The just Destruction I shall see.
