I never could do without Jesus

Author: Rev. R. M. Offord Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Matthew 14:12 First Line: Oh, what could I do with my sorrows Lyrics: 1 Oh, what could I do with my sorrows, And how could I carry my care, If I had not a Saviour most tender, Who helps me my burdens to bear? Refrain: I never could do without Jesus, I never could carry my care, If I had not this Saviour so wiling My sorrows and troubles to share. 2 Oh, many a time am I weary, And many a time am I tried; But I just go at once to my Saviour, And all to His love I confide. [Refrain] 3 I tell Him the whole of my trouble, In patience my story is heard; Oh, He’s better than parent or brother, He listens to catch ev’ry word. [Refrain] 4 These talks that I have with my Saviour, They give me fresh strength for my day; Like a giant refresh’d from his slumber, I rise and go forth on my way. [Refrain] 5 He says that He never will leave me, My helper and guide He will be, Till I reach the bright home in glory Which love is preparing for me. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [Oh, what could I do with my sorrows]

Fair wind and the Sky Is Clear

Author: Daniel Charles Damon Meter: 7.6.8.5.5.10 Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Matthew 14:22-23 Lyrics: 1 Fair wind and the sky is clear. We row, filled with good cheer, and set out to cross Galilee. On leaving our nets, we have no regrets. We follow Jesus, and sail on the sea. 2 But suddenly strong winds roar. We pull hard for the shore. The waves pound against us all night. But who can it be, way out on the sea? A ghostly figure has dawned on our sight. 3 Soon Peter goes overboard, by faith, watching our Lord, but doubt comes and Peter cries out. We look on in fear as Jesus draws near and saves him asking, "Oh, why did you doubt?" 4 They get in the boat and then, a fair wind comes again. We worship our Lord on the sea. Our boat scrapes the sand, we step out on land, and Jesus calls us, "Come walking with me." Topics: Jesus Christ Life and Ministry Used With Tune: SLOOP JOHN B.
