Can You See the Living Christ

Author: Daniel Charles Damon Hymnal: NHOH #31 Lyrics: 1 Can you see the living Christ in the people gathered here bringing sorrow, bringing joy, as the Spirit draws us near? Can you hear the living Christ in the songs of young and old, in the voices of the world, in the stories often told? 2 Can you sense the living Christ in the praise the earth can give, as the colors leap with joy in the garden where you live? Can you feel the living Christ in the love that holds us fast, as the mortar holds the stone while it echoes praises past? 3 Risen Christ, we see your face in the people gathered here bringing sorrow, bringing joy, as your Spirit draws us near. Risen Christ, we walk by faith, moved by what we cannot see, till our sorrow turns to joy, and you come to set us free. Christmas comes close

Author: Shirley Erena Murray Hymnal: NHOH #35 Lyrics: 1 Christmas come close in a child's crumpled face, to the ragged and raw in a harsh birthing place, in a surging of joy, in a bundle held tight, in a breath, in a cry through the dark of the night. 2 Christmas come close to the place where we are, in our longing for peace, for a sign, for a star, for a certainty born in uncertainty's space, for a mystery grasped that our blindness can trace. 4 Christmas come close to the world that is bleak, giving hope a new home, making prophecy speak: so the angels will sing, and the wise will be heard, and the powers will take heed of this child and his word. 4 Christmas come close into focus and frame, to humanity's heart for the child to make claim: for the poor to be served, for the rich to kneel low, for Magnificat now in the Christmas we know. Come, All Come, in Celebration of Our God's Amazing Grace

Author: Mary Jackson Cathey Hymnal: NHOH #37 Meter: 8.7.8.7 D First Line: Come, all come in celebration of our God's amazing grace Lyrics: Come, all come in celebration of our God's amazing grace. By mercy of God's guidance we now worship in this place. Through the faith of those before us who believed and knew God's word they went forth into the future with the gospel they had heard. Offer prayers of true thanksgiving for believers of the past who with hope and dedication formed a church they prayed would last. In the following generations a fellowship has come to be. This a place of prayer and teaching so God's truth can make all free. Speak with real appreciation for the heritage we own. In our lives and in our serving may our faith be clearly shown. As God's people of the Covenant let us live what we profess by our acts and deeds of mercy show the Christ that we confess. Sing, all sing with jubilation for this fellowship we own, building on the firm foundation our commitment here is shown. As we look to years before us and give thanks for days now past, we go forward with God's blessing to be faithful as God asked. Topics: Fellowship Languages: English
