Author: William Chatterton Dix Hymnal: Glory to God #260 (2013) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Scripture: Isaiah 66:1 Lyrics: 1 Alleluia! Sing to Jesus; his the scepter, his the throne; Alleluia! his the triumph, his the victory alone! Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood: "Jesus out of every nation has redeemed us by his blood." 2 Alleluia! Not as orphans are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! he is near us; faith believes nor questions how. Though the cloud from sight received him, when the forty days were o'er, shall our hearts forget his promise: "I am with you evermore"? 3 Alleluia! Bread of angels, here on earth our food, our stay; Alleluia! here the sinful flee to you from day to day. Intercessor, friend of sinners, earth's redeemer, hear our plea where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea. 4 Alleluia! King eternal, Lord omnipotent we own; Alleluia! born of Mary, earth your footstool, heaven your throne. As within the veil you entered, robed in flesh, our great high priest; here on earth both priest and victim in the eucharistic feast. King who ordainest great winds thy clarions, lightnings thy sword: show forth thy pity on high where thou reignest: give to us peace in our time, O Lord. 2 God the All-merciful! earth hath forsaken meekness and mercy, and slighted thy word; bid not thy wrath in its terrors awaken; give to us peace in our time, O Lord. 3 God, the All-righteous One! we have defied thee; yet to eternity standeth thy word; falsehood and wrong shall not tarry beside thee; give to us peace in our time, O Lord. 4 God the All-wise! by the fire of thy chastening, earth shall to freedom and truth be restored; through the thick darkness thy Kingdom is hastening; thou wilt give peace in thy time, O Lord. 5 So shall thy children, with thankful devotion, praise him who saved them from peril and sword, singing in chorus, from ocean to ocean, peace to the nations, and praise to the Lord. Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above

Author: Johann Jakob Schütz (1640-1690); Frances Elizabeth Cox (1812-1897) Hymnal: Common Praise (1998) #310 (1998) Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.8.7 Scripture: Isaiah 66:10-14 Lyrics: 1 Sing praise to God who reigns above, the God of all creation, the God of power, the God of love, the God of our salvation. With healing balm my soul is filled and every faithless murmur stilled: to God all praise and glory. 2 The Lord is never far away, but, through all grief distressing, an ever-present help and stay, our peace and joy and blessing. As with a mother's tender hand God gently leads the chosen band: to God all praise and glory. 3 Thus all my gladsome way along, I sing aloud my praises, that all may hear the grateful song my voice unwearied raises. Be joyful in the Lord, my heart; both soul and body take your part: to God all praise and glory. 4 Let all who name Christ’s holy name give God the praise and glory; let all who know his power proclaim aloud the wondrous story! Cast each false idol from its throne, for Christ is Lord and Christ alone: to God all praise and glory.
