Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

Author of "He Is Lord" Steve Vest. I wrote the lyrics and tune of "He is Lord" in the spring of 1969. I was very active among the Jesus People. My original song only has two verses. Too many verses take away from the flow of the melody. It was written like a slow-motion roller coaster ride. The first verse is similar to your text. It starts with "For He is Lord," instead of "He is Lord."The second verse is: You're My Lord, You're My Lord You have risen from the dead, and You're my Lord. With my knee, I will bow, and with my tongue, confess That Jesus, You're My Lord. I was the only composer of this song of 2 verses in 1969. I played it from Jacksonville, FL to Charleston, SC in numerous prayer meetings and revivals, and at the Cotton Bowl Explo '72 with Billy Graham and Campus Crusade for Christ. Marvin V. Frey

Person Name: Marvin Frey Adapter of "He is Lord, he is Lord" in Hymns for Today's Church (2nd ed.) Marvin V. Frey (b. 1918; d. North Tarrytown, NY, 1992) was an evangelical minister who wrote many well-known songs of faith. A native of Sherwood, OR, Frey was active in evangelical ministry work for the nondenominational Independent Assemblies of God at an early age. During the 1930's, he played piano on many occasions for the evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson. In 1956, he founded the Children's Fund of New York, which ministers to needy children throughout the city. He wrote more than 2,000 songs, many of them during evangelistic gatherings. His best-known song is "Kum Ba Yah," which he wrote at 17 while attending a Christian Crusade camp. He wrote the song as "Come By Here," but a youth at the camp took it to his parents, who used it in their missionary work in Angola, where it acquired its more popular title. Other songs he wrote include "He Is Lord," "This Is My Commandment," "I've Got Peace Like a River" and "Do, Lord." Bert Polman

Bronx, New York City, 1941) Educated at Oakland City College and California State University, in Hayward, CA, Fettke has taught in several public and Christian high schools and served as minister of music in various churches, all in California. He has published over eight hundred compositions and arrangements (some under the pseudonyms Robert F. Douglas and David J. Allen) and produced a number of recordings. Dale Grotenhuis

1931 - 2012 Harmonizer of "HE IS LORD" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) Dale Grotenhuis (b. Cedar Grove, WI, 1931; d. Jenison, Mi, August 17, 2012) was a member of the 1987 Psalter Hymnal 1987 Revision Committee, and was professor of music and director of choral music at Dordt College, Sioux Center, Iowa, from 1960 until he retired in 1994 to concentrate on composition. Educated at Calvin College; Michigan State University, Lansing; and Ohio State University, Columbus; he combined teaching with composition throughout his career and was a widely published composer of choral music. He also directed the Dordt choir in a large number of recordings, including many psalm arrangements found in the 1959 edition of the Psalter Hymnal. Before coming to Dordt, Grotenhuis taught music at Christian high schools in Washington and Michigan. Under his direction, the Dordt College concert choir participated in annual tours that took members throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. He loved the church and the music of the church.
