Tom Fettke

b. 1941 Composer (descant) of "ASH GROVE" in The Celebration Hymnal Thomas E. Fettke (b. Bronx, New York City, 1941) Educated at Oakland City College and California State University, in Hayward, CA, Fettke has taught in several public and Christian high schools and served as minister of music in various churches, all in California. He has published over eight hundred compositions and arrangements (some under the pseudonyms Robert F. Douglas and David J. Allen) and produced a number of recordings. Fettke was the senior editor of The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration (1986). Bert Polman

Katherine Davis

1892 - 1980 Person Name: Katherine K. Davis Author of "Let All Things Now Living" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) Katherine Kennicott Davis (b. St. Joseph, MO, 1892; d. Concord, MA, 1980) studied at Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, where she was also a teaching assistant in music. From 1921 to 1929 she taught singing and piano in private schools in Concord, Massachusetts, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After 1929 she devoted herself largely to music composition. She wrote some eight hundred pieces, most of which were choral (often writing under several pseudonyms). One of her most popular songs is "The Little Drummer Boy," originally called "Carol of the Drum" (1941). Wayne Hooper

1920 - 2007 Person Name: Wayne Hooper (1920-2007) Arranger of "THE ASH GROVE" in Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal Born: July 4, 1920, Little Rock, Arkansas. Died: February 28, 2007, at his home in Thousand Oaks, California. Hooper sang baritone with the King’s Quartet group for 18 years, and arranged and composed music for the group for 33 years. He taught music at the Portland (Oregon) Academy and Union College, Lincoln, Nebraska; served as musical director of the Voice of Prophecy broadcast; directed development and marketing for Hosanna House; did arranging and orchestration for Chapel Records; was musical co-editor of the 1985 Seventh-day Adventist hymnal; and co-authored the Companion to the SDA Hymnal. 1908 - 1979 Harmonizer of "ASH GROVE" in The Presbyterian Hymnal Gerald Hocken Knight CBE (1908–1979) was an cathedral organist, who served at Canterbury Cathedral. Gerald Hocken Knight was born on 27 July 1908 in Par, Cornwall, and was educated at Truro Cathedral School and Peterhouse, Cambridge. He was an articled organ pupil of Hubert Stanley Middleton at Truro Cathedral. He was appointed a Fellow of the Royal School of Church Music in 1964.
