Person Name: Stephen Key Arranger of "[Lord, I will lift mine eyes to the hills]" in African American Heritage Hymnal A native of Washington D. C., Stephen Key is a composer, arranger, and performer. He writes and arranges for the group Steve Key & Company. He is also the Founder and President of StepKey Music. He serves on the musical staff of Third Street Church of God, Asbury United Methodist Church (Washington, DC), and Alfred Street Baptist Church (Alexandria, VA). He graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore and works as a Computer Specialist.

Richard Smallwood

b. 1948 Author of "Total Praise" in African American Heritage Hymnal Richard Smallwood (b. Washington, D.C., 1948), a composer, arranger, pianist, and innovator in the African American gospel style. Many of his arrangements of gospel hymns appear in Lift Every Voice and Sing (1981). Organized by Smallwood in 1967, the Richard Smallwood Singers have sung and recorded many of his arrangements. He remains their current director. Smallwood has a BM degree from Howard University, Washington, DC. Bert Polman
