Stages on a Journey of Faith (O Blest Redeemer, to Us Each Recall)

Author: Jeffery Rowthorn Meter: 10.10.10 with alleluias Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: O blest Redeemer, to us each recall Lyrics: 1. O blest Redeemer, to us each recall how Peter willingly embraced your call: `Come, follow me and trust, whate'er befall'. Alleluia! 2. The journey Peter had in faith begun disclosed the Truth in all that you had done: `Behold the Christ; you are God's Holy One'. Alleluia! 3. Enthralled to be upon the mountain rim, he saw your glory which no light can dim: `This is my Son; give ear alone to him'. Alleluia! 4. Assailed by those who planned a murd'rous plot, his fears prevailed as he all trust forgot: `This man - I swear to you, I know him not'. Alleluia! 5. Despite the words that once made Peter weep, despite Gethsemane's exhausted sleep, you knew his love for you: `Come, feed my sheep'. Alleluia! 6. O blest Redeemer, we sing out your praise; with words to Peter set our faith ablaze: `Remember, I shall be with you always'. Alleluia! Amen.

The Hour Has Come, Foretold Since Time Began

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith Meter: 10.10.10.10.10.10 Appears in 1 hymnal Lyrics: The Hour has come, foretold since time began, when on that cross there hangs the Son of Man, and through what pain his prayer is heard in heaven that those who drove the nails might be forgiven. The dying thief is promised 'You shall be this very day in paradise with me.' He charges Mary, and that well-loved one, be now his mother, and be now her son. The world's true light in darkness dies alone, and asks why God should so forsake his own; while, as the powers of evil do their worst, the living water, too, becomes ' I thirst.' The Prince of Life, his earthly purpose done, cries 'Finished' now, a world's salvation won, and as the gate of heaven open stands commends his spirit to his Father's hands: soon from his three-day grave to rise again, to rise in glory, and in glory reign.
