From glory unto glory! Be this our joyous song

Author: Frances Ridley Havergal (1836-1879) Hymnal: The Hymnal #467 (1950) Meter: 13.13.13.14 Lyrics: 1 From glory unto glory! Be this our joyous song, As on the King's own highway we bravely march along. From glory unto glory! O word of stirring cheer, As dawns the solemn brightness of another glad New Year! 2 The fullness of His blessing encompasseth our way; The fullness of His promises crowns every brightening day; The fullness of His glory is beaming from above, While more and more we learn to know the fullness of His love. 3 O let our adoration for all that He hath done Peal out beyond the stars of God, while voice and life are one; And let our consecration be real and deep and true, O even now our hearts shall bow and joyful vows renew. 4 Now onward, ever onward, from strength to strength we go, While grace for grace abundantly shall from His fullness flow, To glory's full fruition, from glory's foretaste here, Until His very presence crown our happiest New Year. Amen. Topics: Special Seasons and Services The New Year; New Year, The; Processionals; Year, The New Tune Title: HOYTE (ST. COLUMBA)

From glory unto glory! Be this our joyous song

Author: F. R. Havergal Hymnal: The Church Hymnal #205b (1898) Meter: 13.13.13.14 Lyrics: 1 From glory unto glory! Be this our joyous song; As on the King's own highway, We bravely march along. From glory unto glory! O word of stirring cheer, As dawns the solemn brightness of another glad New Year. 2 From glory unto glory! What great things He hath done, What wonders He hath shown us, what triumphs He hath won! From glory unto glory! What mighty blessings crown The lives for which our Lord laid His own so freely down! 3 The fullness of His blessing encompasseth our way; The fullness of His promises crowns every brightening day; The fullness of His glory is beaming from above, While more and more we learn to know the fullness of His love. 4 And closer yet and closer the golden bonds shall be, Uniting all who love our Lord in pure sincerity; And wider yet and wider shall the circling glory glow, As more and more are taught of God that mighty love to know. 5 Oh, let our adoration for all that He hath done, Peal out beyond the stars of God, while voice and life are one; And let our consecration be real, deep, and true: Oh, even now our hearts shall bow, and joyful vows renew. 6 Now onward, ever onward, from strength to strength we go, While grace for grace abundantly shall from His fullness flow, To glory's full fruition, from glory's foretaste here, Until His very presence crown our happiest New Year. Rejoice, rejoice, ye Christians

Author: Catherine Winkworth Hymnal: Common Service Book of the Lutheran Church #30 (1917) Lyrics: 1 Rejoice, rejoice, ye Christians, With all your hearts, this morn! O hear the blessed tidings, "The Lord, the Christ, is born," Now brought us by the angels That stand about God's throne; O lovely are the voices That make such tidings known! 2 O hearken to their singing! This Child shall be your Friend; The Father so hath willed it, That thus your woes should end. The Son is freely given, That in Him ye may have The Father's grace and blessing, And know He loves to save. 3 Nor deem the form too lowly That clothes Him at this hour; For know ye what it hideth? 'Tis God's almighty power. Though now within the manger So poor and weak He lies; He is the Lord of all things, He reigns above the skies. 4 Sin, death, and hell, and Satan Have lost the victory; This Child shall overthrow them, As ye shall surely see. Their wrath shall naught avail them; Fear not, their reign is o'er; This Child shall overthrow them,-- O hear and doubt no more. Amen.
