Mylon Le Fevre

b. 1944 Person Name: Mylon R. LeFevre Hymnal Title: Baptist Hymnal 1991 Author of "Without Him" in Baptist Hymnal 1991 At 17 years old, he wrote his first song, "Without Him." Elvis Presley recorded it in 1963, and within a year, 126 artists had recorded his songs. In the secular world, he played and/or socialized with Eric Clapton, Elton John, Alvin Lee, Billy Joel, Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Little Richard, the Who, Yes, Ten Years After, Rick Derringer, Traffic, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Charlie Daniels, Tina Turner, Willie Nelson, Mick Fleetwood, Mountain, ZZ Top, and Grand Funk Railroad. He founded the Christian rock band Mylon and Broken Heart in 1981. In 1988 they received a Grammy for Best Gospel Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group, Choir or Chorus for their album Crack the Sky. Over the next ten years, they received two Dove Awards. He stopped touring and recording with Broken heart in 1992 due to heart problems --Daniel Mahraun (from www.newreleasetuesday.com/)

M. Lynwood Smith

1924 - 2007 Hymnal Title: Blessed Refuge Author (st. 2) of "Without Him" in Blessed Refuge Morris Lynwood Smith (1924-2007) was a preacher for Churches of Christ. He preached and held gospel meetings throughout Oklahoma, Alabama, and elsewhere. He helped initiate a special annual gathering of one-cup congregations on July 4 and New Year's Day that met in a different Oklahoma town each year. His interest in music led him to attend the Stamps Quartet School of Music in 1947. He sang with "The Zita Boys," a quartet composed of Johnny Elmore, Billy Smith, C. A. Smith, and himself. Smith wrote and published several songs, often writing a song for the annual meetings. In his lifetime, Smith published 16 songbooks of his and others' songs and hymns.
