Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario), B.A., 1904; B.D., 1907. Pastorates at Toronto, 1908-1913, 191941-1949; Montreal, 1913-1915; Congregational churches in New York State, 1916-1928; Sarnia, 1928-1934; Campbellford, 1935-1941; Prescott, 1949-1954; Uxbridge, 1954-1960 (all in Ontario). Many of his sermons and articles appeared in periodicals like Pulpit Preaching and Christian World Pulpit. He was noted for never reading a scripture lesson, but always reciting it. He lived just long enough to learn that his "Make Thou my life so full of love" had won first prize in the competition for new hymns conducted during the preparation of The Book of Praise (1972).
