Take, eat, and live. And oft the sacred rite renew That brings my saving love to view." 4 Then in His hands the cup He raised, And God anew He thanked and praised, While kindness in His bosom glowed, And from His lips salvation flowed. 5 "My blood I thus pour forth," He cries, "To cleanse the soul in sin that lies; In this the covenant is sealed, And heaven's eternal grace revealed. 6 "With love to man this cup is fraught; Let all partake the sacred draught; Through latest ages let it pour, In memory of my dying hour." What love thro' all His actions ran! What wondrous words of grace He spake! 3 "This is My body, broke for sin; Receive and eat the living food;" Then took the cup and blessed the wine; "’Tis the new cov’nant in My blood." 4 "Do this," He said, "till time shall end, In mem'ry of your dying Friend. Meet at My table and record The love of your departed Lord." 5 Jesus, Thy feast we celebrate; We show Thy death, we sing Thy name, Till Thou return and we shall eat The marriage supper of the Lamb. Amen. Topics: The Church Year Maundy Thursday Used With Tune: ST. CROSS
