Awake, my tongue! thy tribute bring

Author: Needham Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 192 hymnals Scripture: Isaiah 54:10 Lyrics: 1 Awake, my tongue! thy tribute bring To Him who gave thee power to sing; Praise him who is all praise above, The Source of wisdom and of love. 2 How vast his knowledge--how profound! A depth, where all our thoughts are drowned; The stars he numbers; and their names He gives to all those heavenly flames. 3 Through each bright world above, behold Ten thousand thousand charms unfold; Each, air, and mighty seas combine To speak his wisdom all-divine. 4 But in redemption--oh, what grace! Its wonders--oh, what thought can trace! Here wisdom shines for ever bright: Praise him, my soul, with sweet delight. Topics: Attributes of God Knowledge and Wisdom; Wisdom of God

As We, Your People Gather (Hymn for World Peace)

Author: Howard Maple Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Isaiah 54:14-16 First Line: As we, your people, gather Lyrics: 1 As we, your people, gather with wearied hearts, O Lord, let prayers be now uplifted for peace to be restored. May healing and repentance in every land be known, as sword is turned to plowshare and seeds of trust are sown. 2 The cries of desperation, the orphan in distress, instill in us a longing that words cannot express. Yet, as the Spirit's presence within each heart is stirred, we find new strength and courage in God's unfailing Word. 3 The prophet voices call us to seek that promised day when hatred and oppression at last are swept away. No darkness will surround us; in light we dwell secure. God's purpose is accomplished when peace and love endure. Topics: Commemoration of 9/11; Courage; Justice and Peace; Peace; Peace on Earth; Promise and Hope Used With Tune: AURELIA
