Make Music to the LORD Most High

Author: Christopher Idle Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 92 Lyrics: 1 Make music to the LORD Most High, whose praise is our delight: we sing your love as day begins, your faithfulness by night. LORD, when we see all you have done, our songs of joy resound: your handiwork, how vast it is, your counsels, how profound! 2 The godless mind will never know, because its sense is void, that though the wicked spread like grass, they all shall be destroyed. Forever, LORD, you are supreme, your throne remains on high, while rebels meet eternal doom and evildoers die. 3 But like the cedar and the palm, the righteous stand serene; they flourish in the house of God, their leaves are fresh and green. To fruitful age they still proclaim the LORD who makes them new— our God, in whom no wrong is found, my rock, forever true. Topics: Comfort; Fruits of Faith; God as Judge; Gratitude; Joy; Old Age; Sabbath; Sanctification; Ten Commandments 3rd Commandment (Remember the Sabbath); Worship Used With Tune: KINGSFOLD

Make Me like the Palm

Author: S. D. Phelps, D. D. Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Psalm 92:12 First Line: Planted in thy house, O Lord Lyrics: 1 Planted in Thy house, O Lord, ‘Mid the trees of righteousness, Watered by Thy sacred Word, Beautiful with precious grace, Ransom'd child of Thine I am; Make me flourish like the palm; Ransom'd child of Thine I am; Make me flourish like the palm. 2 Let my wings of faith be spread, Bear me to the mercy-seat; Blend my spirit with its Head, Make me thus in Christ complete; So my heart, pure, firm and calm, Lives to flourish like the palm; So my heart, pure, firm and calm, Lives to flourish like the palm. 3 Let my leaves be green and fair, Clustering fruits in me abound; All my deeds Thy love declare, All my hopes in Thee be found; Life shall be a joyous psalm, Graceful, useful, like the palm; Life shall be a joyous psalm, Graceful, useful, like the palm. 4 When full age at last has come, When beyond the Jordan-tide, Garnered to my heavenly home, Let me with the glorified Sing the triumphs of the Lamb, Bear a conqueror’s fadeless palm; Sing the triumphs of the Lamb, Bear a conqueror’s fadeless palm. Used With Tune: [Planted in thy house, O Lord]
