This is the day the Lord hath made

Author: Isaac Watts (1674-1748) Hymnal: Ancient and Modern #7 (2013) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Ancient and Modern Lyrics: 1 This is the day the Lord hath made, he calls the hours his own; let heaven rejoice, let earth be glad, and praise surround the throne. 2 To-day he rose and left the dead, and Satan's empire fell; to-day the saints his triumphs spread, and all his wonders tell. 3 Hosanna to the anointed King, to David's holy Son. O help us, Lord, descend and bring salvation from thy throne. 4 Blest be the Lord, who comes to men with messages of grace; who comes, in God his Father's name, to save our sinful race. 5 Hosanna in the highest strains the Church on earth can raise; the highest heavens in which he reigns shall give him nobler praise. Immortal Love for ever full

Author: John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892) Hymnal: Ancient and Modern #675 (2013) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Ancient and Modern Lyrics: 1 Immortal Love for ever full, for ever flowing free, for ever shared, for ever whole, a never-ebbing sea. 2 Our outward lips confess the name all other names above; love only knoweth whence it came and comprehendeth love. 3 We may not climb the heavenly steeps to bring the Lord Christ down; in vain we search the lowest deeps, for him no depths can drown: 4 But warm, sweet, tender, even yet a present help is he; and faith has still its Olivet, and love its Galilee. 5 The healing of his seamless dress is by our beds of pain; we touch him in life's throng and press, and we are whole again. 6 Through him the first fond prayers are said our lips of childhood frame; the last low whispers of our dead are burdened with his name. 7 Alone, O Love ineffable, thy saving name is given; to turn aside from thee is hell, to walk with thee is heaven. My life's strength is the Lord, of whom then shall I be afraid? 2 One thing I of the Lord desired, and will seek to obtain, that all days of my life I may within God's house remain; 3 That I the beauty of the Lord behold may and admire, And that I in his holy place may reverently enquire. 4 Wait on the Lord, and be thou strong, and he shall strength afford unto thine heart; yea, do thou wait, I say, upon the Lord. Blest be the everlasting God

Be his abounding mercy praised, his majesty adored! 2 When from the dead he raised his Son, and called him to the sky, he gave our souls a lively hope that they should never die. 3 To an inheritance divine he taught our hearts to rise; 'tis uncorrupted, undefiled, unfading in the skies. 4 Saints by the power of God are kept, till the salvation come: we walk by faith as strangers here; but Christ shall call us home. Behold! The mountain of the Lord

Hymnal: Common Praise (1998) #112 (1998) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Hymnal Title: Common Praise (1998) Lyrics: 1 Behold! The mountain of the Lord in latter days shall rise on mountain tops above the hills, and draw the wondering eyes. 2 The beam that shines from Zion hill shall lighten every land; the king who reigns in Salem's towers shall all the world command. 3 Among the nations he shall judge, with judgements true shall guide; his sceptre shall protect the just, and quell the sinner's pride. 4 No strife shall rage, nor hostile feuds disturb those peaceful years; to ploughshares all shall beat their swords, to pruning-hooks their spears. 5 No longer hosts encountering hosts shall crowds of slain deplore: they hang the trumpet in the hall, and study war no more. 6 Come then, O come from every land to worship at God's shrine; and, walking in the radiant light, with holy beauties shine.
