1 A multitude drew near the Lord,
They’d come from far away;
But faint and hungry many grew
Before the close of day.
O Master, where shall we find bread
Here in the wilderness?
A child has brought his gift to Thee;
Too small for such distress.
Refrain:
See what a childish off’ring did,
In gospel story told;
The Lord hath blessed and sent it forth,
Increased a thousand fold.
2 The Master took the off’ring small,
The child had brought Him then;
He blessed the gift; and lo, it fed
Five thousand hungry men!
And so our little deeds of love,
Out self-denials small,
The mighty Lord who looks on them,
He’ll bless and use them all. [Refrain]
