Revive Us Again

Representative Text

1 All glory and praise be to Jesus, our Lord,
So plenteous in grace, and so true to his word.

Chorus:
Hallelujah, Thine the glory,
Hallelujah! Amen;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory,
Revive us again.

2 To us he hath given the gift from above—
The earnest of heaven, the spirit of love. [Chorus]

3 Ye all may receive who on Jesus do call,
The gift of his spirit—'tis proffered to all. [Chorus]

In 1726 Charles Wesley was elected to a Westminster studentship at Christ Church, Oxford, where he took his degree in 1729, and became a college tutor. In the early part of the same year his religious impressions were much deepene… Go to person page >

STEPHEN'S, first published in Psalmodia Evangelica, vol. 2 (1789), but the resemblance only extends to the first two measures. These tunes should not be regarded as the same.
