Representative Text

1 Christ Jesus is the Life, the Way,
Follow in his steps, follow in his steps;
Each moment as we watch and pray,
Follow in the steps of Jesus.

Refrain:
Let us follow, follow,
Follow in the steps of Jesus;
In the day or in the night,
In the dark or in the light,
Let us follow in the steps of Jesus.

2 His blessings on us he will strew,
Follow in his steps, follow in his steps;
If we would be a blessing too,
Follow in the steps of Jesus. [Refrain]

3 He’ll fill our souls with perfect love,
Follow in his steps, follow in his steps;
To reach our home in heav’n above,
Follow in the steps of Jesus. [Refrain]

4 Until this earthly life shall end,
Follow in his steps, follow in his steps;
The years that in this world we spend,
Follow in the steps of Jesus. [Refrain]

5 And when death’s silent vale we tread,
Follow in his steps, follow in his steps;
If we the shadows would not dread,
Follow in the steps of Jesus. [Refrain]

Johnson Oatman, Jr., son of Johnson and Rachel Ann Oatman, was born near Medford, N. J., April 21, 1856. Outside of the usual time spent in the public schools, Mr. Oatman received his education at Herbert's Academy, Princetown, N. J., and the New Jersey Collegiate Institute, Bordentown, N. J. At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
