The Gospel Invitation

Representative Text

1 Come humbly to the mercy seat,
Make all your anguish known;
Fall prostrate at the Savior’s feet,
Who pleads before the throne.

Refrain:
Come, sinner, now, and humbly bow,
While yet the Spirit pleads,
At mercy’s gate the Savior waits,
And for you intercedes.

2 With penitential grief and tears,
Your guilt and shame confess;
Confess to Him your sins and fears,
Who ready waits to bless. [Refrain]

3 Your sins may be of deepest dye,
Your crimes like crimson glow;
The blood His flowing wounds supply
Will cleanse you white as snow. [Refrain]

4 ’Tis faith in Him, the Son of God,
The captive soul will free;
Faith in His warm and precious blood,
That flowed on Calvary. [Refrain]
