Representative Text

1. Come, weary travelers, come from the byways;
Come to the right way that leads unto God;
Narrow it will be, rugged it may be,
But ’tis the highway the saints have all trod.
Come to the safe way, come to the true way,
Come to the Christ way, and walk ye herein.

2. Many are carelessly treading the broad way,
Heedless and scornful of where it must lead—
Down into sorrow, out into darkness—
But haste to the turning, for great is the need!
Come to the right way, come to the bright way,
Come to the Christ way, and walk ye herein.

3. Narrow the way—but so spacious is Heaven;
Rugged the way—but the rest is so sweet.
Blest is the pilgrimage onward and upward—
What of the toil when the bliss is complete?
This is the safe way, this is the glad way,
This is the bright way, come walk ye herein.
