Despised and rejected, the dear Son of God

Author: Maud Frazer
Tune: [Despised and rejected] (Gabriel)
Published in 4 hymnals

Representative Text

1 Despis'd and rejected, the dear Son of God,
When earth's rugged paths to save sinners He trod!
Despis'd and rejected by many today!
Shall I, too, refuse him, from love turn away?

Chorus:
No longer I'll grieve Thee, O Savior divine;
Come into my heart, make it, Lord, wholly Thine!
I bow down before Thee; thy love shall not be
Despis'd and rejected by me.

2 Despis'd and rejected! how often before
To His gentle knock I have fastened the door!
But now doth His pleading my heart strangely move;
I haste to surrender my all to His love! [Chorus]

3 Beyond human tho't, Lord, that great love of Then,
That leads Thee to seek sinful hearts such as mine;
But as Thou hat died the unworthy to win,
I bring to Thy cross all my burden of sin. [Chorus]
