Jerome Annoni also d'Custard, (* September 12 1697 in Basel, † October 10th 1770 in Muttenz) was a Reformed theologian and hymn writer from Switzerland, and is considered the founder of the Basel pietism.
He was born the son of a watchmaker and alderman, and his ancestors were religious reasons from the valley of the Tanaro in Piedmont fled. After studying theology at the University of Basel, he came as a tutor in Schaffhausen for pietism and deepened his convictions by traveling through Switzerland (1729, 1730-31), Germany (1732-33, 1736) and the Netherlands (1736), on which he met with leading Pietists. 1740 he became pastor in Waldenburg BL and 1747 in Muttenz.
