Escuchad, Jesús nos dice

Representative Text

1 Escuchad, Jesús nos dice:
"¿Quiénes van a trabajar?
Campos blancos hoy aguardan
Que los vayan a segar."
Él nos llama cariñoso,
Nos constriñe con su amor;
¿Quién responde a su llamado:
"Heme aquí, yo iré, Señor."?

2 Si por tierras o por mares
No pudieres transitar,
Puedes encontrar hambrientos
En tu puerta que auxiliar;
Si careces de riquezas,
Lo que dio la viuda, da:
So por el Señor lo dieres,
¡Cuánto gozo en Él tendrás!

3 Si como elocuente apóstol
No pudieres predicar,
Puedes de Jesús decirles,
Cuánto al hombre supo amar;
Si no logras que sus culpas
Reconozca el pecador,
Conducir los niños puedes
Al benigno Salvador.

Tune

AUTUMN (Barthélemon)

This tune is adapted from Barthélemon's piece Durandarte and Belerma: A Pathetic Scotch Ballad (1797). Some editors describe AUTUMN as "adapted from Psalm xlii in the Genevan Psalter, 1551", referring to the similarity between this tune and FREU DICH SEHR.
