Eternal Sovereign, Lord of all, Dearest of names above

Author: Edward Clark Saunders
Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 Eternal Sov'reign, Lord of all,
Dearest of names above,
Why should we grovel here below,
And never taste thy love.

2 Release us, Lord, from ev'ry snare,
Draw us with loving bands,
Cleanse all our souls from sinful stains:
Lord, strengthen all our hands.

3 Ah, Lord, we need thy quickning pow'r,
Refresh our drooping minds:
Keep us O Lord, in trying hours,
Safe from the tempting fiends.

5 And then our souls shall bless thy name,
Until this life shall end;
Nor shall our souls forget to sing
Deliverance through our friend.

5 Eternal praise shall then employ
Redeemed souls in heaven:
Salvation to the Lord on high,
And endless life be given.
