Notes

Far, far o'er hill and dell, on the winds stealing. [Heaven anticipated]. Appeared anonymously in Winchell's Appendix to his Arrangement of Watts, 1832, in 5 stanzas of 4 lines. It is repeated in later collections, including H. W. Beecher's Plymouth Collection, 1855; the Baptist Praise Book 1871, and other American collections.
