Representative Text

1 I journey to a better land
Of bright eternal day,
The home of infinite delight;
Lord, help me on my way.

Refrain:
O help me on my way,
Lord, help me on my way;
Reach forth thy kind and loving hand,
And help me on my way.

2 The way is narrow, and the thorns
Have pierc’d my bleeding feet,
But I will journey till I reach
The city’s golden street. [Refrain]

3 Then shall I rest from weariness,
From sin and sorrow free,
And, in the presence of my Lord,
Forever blessed be. [Refrain]

4 The way will not seem hard or long,
If thou wilt walk with me,
For I shall sing my pilgrim song,
And ever joyful be. [Refrain]
