If You Love Me

1. “If you love Me, I now say,
All My teaching you’ll obey.
I will to My Father pray,
And He’ll send His Spirit to stay.

2. “Spirit of truth and Counselor,
Unknown by the world this hour;
But you know His presence here,
With you, in you, always near.

3. “Orphans you will never be.
Though the world will not see Me,
You will see, I’ll come to you;
Since I live, you will live too.

4. “You’re in Me and I’m in you;
I am in My Father too.
If you My commands obey,
You’ll show love for Me this way.

5. “If you love Me, you’ll be loved
By my Father God above.
I Myself will love you too,
And will show Myself to you.

6. Peace I leave with you this day,
Not as in the world’s own way.
Let your hearts not feel dismay;
Do not fear; My peace will stay.

Born: Oc­to­ber 17, 1950, Port An­ge­les, Wash­ing­ton. Died: Ju­ly 23, 2004, Per­al­ta, New Mex­i­co. Susan was the se­cond of two girls in the fam­i­ly. Her fa­ther worked for the Na­tion­al Park Ser­vice, so Su­san en­joyed grow­ing up in Na­tion­al Parks and His­tor­ic Sites across Amer­i­ca. She did her un­der­grad­u­ate work at Stan­ford Un­i­ver­si­ty and earned a BS in ma­the­ma­tics in 1972. The next year she took a one-year grad­u­ate pro­gram at Mult­no­mah School of the Bi­ble in Port­land, Or­e­gon, and re­ceived a Cer­tif­i­cate of Bi­ble up­on com­ple­tion.
