Representative Text

1 In this vale of sadness,
Grief, and pain, and care,
Where the burdened and the weary
Meet you ev’rywhere;
Oh, what precious blessings
May be your each day,
If you’ll work for Jesus
All along the way.

Refrain:
Work for Jesus,
Help the dear Redeemer,
Soothe and comfort,
Gladden while you may;
Oh, what precious blessings
May be yours each day,
If you’ll work for Jesus
All along the way.

2 Ever hearts are breaking;
Cries are ever heard;
Ever struggling souls are longing
For a cheering word;
Oh, what deeds of kindness
You may do each day,
If you’ll work for Jesus
All along the way. [Refrain]

3 There are souls around you,
Deep in doubt and sin,
Whom an act of love might rescue,
Whom a word might win;
Oh, what erring brothers
You may win each day,
If you’ll work for Jesus
All along the way. [Refrain]
