Representative Text

1. Let down from Heav’n above through gates ajar,
Fresh from the throne of God, O wondrous Star!
Shedding refulgent light o’er Bethlehem,
Piercing the Orient, a sign to them!

Refrain
Star, bright and beautiful, wonderful Star!
Leading the wise men from their homes afar!
Let down from Heav’n above through gates ajar,
Beautiful, beautiful, wonderful Star!

2. Cherubs and seraphs sang paeans that night,
As through Judea flashed thy wondrous light;
King of the starry host in midnight skies,
Herald so wonderful, thy news we prize. [Refrain]

3. Myriad the stars that shine, twinkling on high,
Royally out from them, thee we descry!
Guiding the Magi band, thy flashing beams
Rest where the Holy Child in slumber dreams. [Refrain]
